Everyone knows that Kevin Conroy is the Batman that everyone, not just Gotham, deserves. While some may say that Christian Bale, or perhaps Adam West are their favorite Batman, the fact that Conroy has been voicing the characters in animated films, TV series, and video games for the past 25 years has cemented his status as the definitive Batman in the minds of many.

But what happens when you take Kevin Conroy and the script from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and combine the two? Acclaimed voice actor Rob Paulsen recently found out when Conroy visited his show, Talkin’ Toons. (If you’ve never listened to this podcast, you need to.  Paulsen sits down with various other voice actors to discuss their experiences, reading scripts, and re-enact famous film scenes. It’s amazing!)

Anyway, the guys over at Nerdist have some video of both Paulsen and Conroy as they read the ending scene of The Dark Knight, in which Batman and Commissioner Gordon discuss the fate of Gotham. Paulsen is wonderful as Commissioner Gordon, but watching Conroy read the “you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain” line is the best thing I’ve seen today. You really need to see it for yourself.
