Graphic Novel becomes Movie
I just came across a movie that looks like its gonna be one of the greatest Super Hero movies of 2009. If any of you are familiar with the graphic novel “Watchmen”, you will be likely to agree.
Warner Bros. Studios have brought Zach Snyder (Director of 300) to direct the film to be released March 6, 2009
While I was a bit underwhelmed when I finally read the Watchmen comic a few years ago I have to say the movie looks amazing. Snyder did a great job with 300, and with the current crop of great comic based movies (Sin City, Batman Begins/Dark Knight, Iron Man, and the upcoming The Spirit) I’m hoping the streak continues. Although that could change if they decide to make Spiderman 4, Fantastic Four 3, Elektra 2, or another Bret Ratner Superman movie.
Also as a proud reader of the genre I have no problem calling them “Comic Books”. They’re only called “graphic novels” so people can pretend that they are something different/superior from Archie. Comics are not really for kids any more, but they still are what they are. I’ve been reading comics off and on for about the last fifteen years, and my self esteem can handle it.
