don't get me wrong. i'm a huge fan of neverwinter nights. i've spent some years playing with community-developed modules for the original game and every new game of the series was better than the last, but the new map feature was in jrpgs since the earth was a small warm ball. i'm glad that this feature has made it into nwn, but it's not something i would call 'innovation'.

@ Squishy: I think NWN2 is easier to jump into than previous games in the genre, but in your case, I might wait for the "Platinum Edition" (or whatever they decide to call it) that will have the original game and both expansions -- that would probably put less of a dent in your wallet than buying all three separately. :D

@ Travis: The level cap is staying at 30 for now, though the devs have been murmuring about making a third expansion... And if you love the Yuan-Ti, well Yuan-Ti Purebloods (the humanoid ones) are actually a playable race in SoZ! By the way, it doesn't start where MotB left off, it's supposed to take place concurrently.
Looks great, I've played both NWN2 and MotB a few times over now, and am eagerly awaiting the next one. That screenshot gets me excited (I love Yuan-Ti....). Any indication of the level cap going up to 40 in this one? Though that would be one looong campaign if it doesn't start from where MotB leaves off...

Wow! thanks so much for the heads-up on SoZ! I'm deep in NWN2 right now and the world map really bugs me. Glad to see Obsidian is still improving their games while keeping what fans love: exciting characters amd great storylines!

I've never played Baldur’s Gate, or really any of the other games you mention. I guess that's one of the downfalls of being a console gamer. However looking at these screens I may have to give it a try. Which game do you think would be a good jumping off point? I checked out the interview on Gametrailers and was cautioned by one thing. He mentioned that this game "might" be a good jumping off point for newbies to the series. It reminded me of Kevin Smith saying that, "You don't have to have seen my other movies to get Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back".

It looks pretty, and depending on how much of my game budget is blown by it's release I may have to check it out. Thanks for the info.
