A while back I wrote a review for Ghostbusters, the video game. I was playing a PC copy on my system and was really disappointed by how badly coded everything was. If you don’t remember my review of it, I invite you to read it again before moving on with this entry.
All done? OK.
Since writing that entry, I’ve had the chance to play the game again, only this time on an Xbox 360. I’m very impressed with the game overall now, and would like to revisit some of the points I made earlier.
When Blizzard and Activision merged earlier this year, they announced that they would not be continuing a couple of titles that were under development. One of them was Ghostbusters, and I weeped inside. However, the rights were bought up by Atari, and it’s back on schedule!
Hooray for voice acting from the actual actors and writing from the actual writers!
I know that some of our readers and contributors are parents. Obviously we’re all geeks of one form or another and so our children are doomed to have inherited some of our geeky genes. Is knowing that they’ll likely be geeks, causing them to be tortured by the “cool” kids, a bad thing? Would you prefer your child to know that the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42 or would you like to see them run a 4.4 40 and hit a baseball 500 feet?
These are questions that I’ve debated for a while and I’ve determined that my kids can choose their own path. My eight-year-old daughter thinks I’m the coolest guy in the world and wants to be just like me. Lately she’d rather play video games or watch a movie than play outside. My wife hates it but what can I do? I turned out OK.
I was driving home over the weekend along I-15 when I looked up and saw how the sky had turned to this very odd blue color. This may not be some sort of unusual weather pattern as far as the rest of the world is concerned, but where I live it doesn’t happen all that often.
Further down the road, I could see the clouds coming together to form some sort of vortex with a hollow center above a building that I happened to know rather well. I thought it was worth noting, so I took a picture with my phone (sort of surprised how well it turned out).
