I suggested a book to zohner the other day, and I realized that we now have a place to put all our suggestions of books we think other's would like! Post as many as you want!
The Conqueror's Saga by Timothy Zahn. He doesn't only write Star Wars, you know. This is a really entertaining sci fi trillogy that creates a whole new world of aliens, worlds, battles, and politics. Yeah, I know that last part doesn't seem so interesting, but trust me it is in this case.
The Word & The Void trilogy by Terry Brooks. I was first lent Runing With The Demon (book 1) by a friend many years ago. I had no idea it was part of a series until my own mom lent me the second book, Knight of the Word. Lends itself more towards fantasy than sci fi, but very good.
Cloud Of Sparrows by Takashi Matsuoka. I read this book awhile ago, and was unaware there was a sequel. It's not sci-fi, but rather more of a historical fantasy. I find it particularly humorous thanks to my unique perspective into the Japanese mindset which the author seems to share.
jPod by Douglas Coupland. Very funny, very offbeat, very non-linear. Written in a sort of “slice of life” fashion from the perspective of a software engineer at an unnammed game company, you get involved in all the inane cubical wars, the relationships, the crazy friends, the worse management, the insane family, and a Chinese drug smuggler. Very good read for most the people I've ever worked with (TardisCaptian, zohner, I'm looking at you two).
What's everyone else's?
