Don't get me wrong, I loved Batman Begins, and really liked The Dark Knight. But I am really sick of seeing all these casting “rumors” about the third film. Everyone acknowledges that Chris Nolan is still on vacation, but say that they know who'll be the next baddie. I just read another Johnny Depp as Riddler bit of “news”. They also speculated on Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin, despite Nolan's own statements against Penggy.
I know that we all have had “perfect casts” in our minds of who would be the best Superman, or Green Lantern, or Howard the Duck. However a little bit of patience is in order on this one. We know there actually will be a 3rd film, we just need to wait for it to happen before we get to giddy.

I agree. I gave up following the rumors when Cher was allegedly given the part of Catwoman.

I think this might be partially because people are excited about Batman again (which is good).
Also, internet fanboys are also now more connected than ever before in history (which is bad).
At least we know there will be a third one (which is good).
And the frogurt is cursed.
Which is bad.

Johnny Depp could be a good Riddler, though I think it would be wise of them to avoid characters like the Penguin and Catwoman for now.
Personally, I think I'd like to see Paul Bettany as the Ridder, and Rachel Weisz as Talia al-Ghul.

Oh, she'd be a good one for Talia!

Yeah, I don't see why they couldn't include Talia. She's never been in a Batman movie before, so there's no cliche to combat. Plus, she's cooler and badder than Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn roled into one, and without the bland character motifs.
I could handle Depp as the Riddler, provided he's a believable evil genius, not a goofy stereotype.
Definitely not the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, or Bane. Two-Face even pushed the envelope for me. Nolan's Batman franchise is supposed to be believable — tell me Two-Face would not have died rapidly from infection after exposing such a ridiculous facial wound. Maybe it's a good thing they killed him off. And yes, despite the controversy, Nolan says Two-Face is dead, and Eckhart says he won't be back.
