Star Trek XI (2009)
This is for all the Trekkies out there. Star Trek XI is set to be released in May 2009. Directed by J.J. Abrams (the guy that directed Mission: Impossible III) An upcoming movie about the greatest space adventure of all time, “Star Trek,” featuring a young, new crew venturing boldly where no man or woman has gone before. This is a chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members. What I have gathered about the plot is that it is the story of the James T. Kirk and his crew before they joined together to crew the Enterprise. It tells how the starship was built and its first missions.

I still have an issue with the ship being built on Earth, but that’s just me. Squishy and I were actually talking about this very film last night and our fears and expectations on it.
Some series can be rebooted and that’s all good and well (Batman is a prime example). Each generation will have it’s own version of the classic, and so the classic can have it’s origin redone a bit.
Star Trek is no such series; it has a defined beginning, and any attempt to rework that beginning gets you Star Trek Enterprise (shudder). I’m still excited, but cautiously so.
