Also can't completely remove the package either (tried that one too). Installed Windows 7 on it today. Works like a charm. Because of his love affair with the open source OS, he did nothing but bash Microsoft the entire time. One day I had finally heard enough and told him that whether he likes it or not, Microsoft revolutionized the way we use computers. Sure, they may have borrowed (stole) a lot of their ideas but they are the ones who made computers mainstream. I then told him that if it wasn't for Bill Gates, he'd have nothing to do while he sits in his mother's basement wishing that he had friends. Needless to say, my candor shut him up pretty quickly. It's people like him that make me want to continue using Windows and avoid Linux all together. Your experience is just one more reason for me to feel this way.
