The host that Stolen Droids sits on has recently done some migration work on their servers. Basically, they’ve moved from one server to another. This can get kinda tricky when a single account (like this one) actually has MANY websites and subdomains under it.
For whatever reason, every site that is on this account has been shuffled off this internet coil except Stolen Droids. While I greatly appreciate the fact that our most visited (and technically complex) site has not been deleted, it doesn’t really help me bring back any of the other sites that just suddenly don’t exist anymore. The account is actually under fellow SD member Schmidty, who graciously allows us space and pays for the monthly bill.
I’ve done many migrations before myself, and I know that they can be a real pain in the rear if you don’t plan accordingly for the project at hand. The best way to avoid this kind of issue is to . . . well, PLAN for the project at hand.

During a recent “geek-meet,” the subject of Homestar Runner arose. One thing led to another, and we found ourselves discussing the “Jibblies.” Since some people were unfamiliar with the Jibblies on that occasion, I thought I would share the full nature of the Jibblies with the wider geek community. Strong Bad first revealed the Jibblies during his “Bottom Ten” email, and they’ve continued to pop up ever since, even being featured in a special Halloween toon.

The Jibblies are a kind of psychic shock caused by a painting of an evil Demon known as the “Rocoulm,” whose catchphrase is “Come on in here.” Before I show you the full horror of the Jibblies, I should tell you that when you see the Poopsmith character during the following video, make sure to click on his head to unlock an easter egg scene which you would otherwise miss. It’s worth it.

Just a quick update here; Stolen Droids is now compatible with most all mobile browsers. Just go to www.stolendroids.com as you normally would, and the site will reformat itself to fit your screen. We’re still working on things such as the template and resizing pictures, but it’s a step in the right direction!

. . .which was spoofing life in the first place.
It’s no secret that I love Penny Arcade. I’ve read through all of them enough times that I can quote my favorites and still laugh (yes, at myself). What’s really funny is when I see something else entirely and it reminds me of a strip from long ago.
 From February 2, 2007
Normally this would be worth a bit of a chuckle, and then we move on. However, I was looking though the Sunday ads and saw this:

Now, we just need to use him for target practice.
If you love Halo 3, and would like to participate in a new style of playing, then join Halo Olympics! I just launched the site today, and we are planning a lot of exciting venues in the future.
What is Halo Olympics you ask? Well, I came up with the idea a while ago when I was taking screenshots of a multiplayer match I played online. I came across this one posted here of my character doing an arial through the air. I got the idea of creating a Halo Olympic club where we would do whacky things like Arial Jumping. It doesn’t stop there though. The amount of things we can do in Halo is only limited by our creativity, and the number of people that help.
So, tell all your friends, and join today!

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, I feel that I can talk about Christmas (retailers and radio stations start way too early. This bugs me as a big fan of Thanksgiving).
I love having a Geek Wife. Not only am I married to someone who understand me, she also introduces me to more geek items that I wasn’t aware of. She introduced me to the website that NORAD set up to track Santa Clause on Christmas Eve. http://www.noradsanta.org/
NORAD tracking Santa just off the North American coast in 2007
It has now become a tradition on December 24th (Just as the International Date line crosses over to December 25th) to visit the website and keep an eye on where Santa has visited. The website will update every five minutes with different reports and videos on where Santa has been. At the time that Santa is scheduled to pass over our place, my wife would run past the kids bedrooms (they would be tucked in by that time) playing the Christmas bells (luckily we would already have the presents under the tree).

I’m going through some serious election withdrawal. So, to fill the emptiness that I’m feeling inside, I decided that it’s time for a new poll. You may remember that when I asked our last poll question, Do you consider yourself a geek?, I mentioned that there would be a follow-up poll, and a later follow-up post. I am shamed to admit that I forgot where I was going with that and ended up jumping the gun with my post about geeks and their love for Lego. In an attempt to ensure that our faithful reader doesn’t feel ripped off, it’s only fair to follow-through with the second part of the poll.
This time around, we’re asking if you have an affinity for Lego products. This could be interpreted as your love for the amazing video games, the great, if not elusive, playsets, or even something as simple as the pens or keychains. Even if you think they’re really cool and wish you could buy them but don’t, that’s still an affinity. Now is the time that you vote.

This is an amazing time in the technological world. For the first time in presidential elections, the internet allows you to fact-check almost as soon as the words are out of the candidate’s mouth. No more can politicians say something really dumb and then try and deny it was ever said (since the mp3, YouTube clip, and numerous Twitters have spread it across the web). Public records are not only available to the public, they are finally accessible!
And, like with everything else that hits a massive surge, we have moronic advertisers who try and cash in on it. That in itself isn’t so bad (hey, it’s capitalism!). What’s bad is the fact that they try and do it with automated scripts.

We have a new poll up. This time, we’re asking if you consider yourself a geek. This poll will play into my next post as well as our next poll. I’m currently planning to do a follow-up post regarding the results.
Do you consider yourself a geek?

It may have been a bit premature, but I’ve added forums to the site (you can see the link up top). Eventually, we might do away with the comments box at the end of each post and instead JUST have a link to the forums, but until then we will kepp both.
If you are already a registered member of Stolen Droids, then you already have access to the forums. Your Gravatar and all information you registered with us is already in your profile there (isn’t framework programming great?). If you have not registered, you will need to before you can post or reply to anything on the forums.
Go ahead and give them a try! There are plenty of topic areas already, and they are wide open for everyone to start filling!
